Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb. dried spaghetti noodles
  • 1 lb. ground beef or turkey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 28 oz. can tomato purée
  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper
  • Ciliegine fresh mozzarella (Mozzarella balls)
  • Large black olives, sliced
  • Basil for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Pasta

Bring four quarts of water (with a tablespoon of salt) to a boil in your pasta pot.

Once boiling, add the spaghetti and stir. Reduce the heat to medium and let the pasta cook according to the directions on the box. When the pasta has finished cooking, drain it and set it aside.

Brown the Beef

While the pasta is cooking, add the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper to a large skillet. Cook on medium heat until completely brown with no pink remaining. This will take about 7-10 minutes.

Make the Sauce

Once the beef has cooked through, add the tomato purée, dried oregano, and dried parsley. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Cover and cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes.

Sauce the Spaghetti

When you’re ready to serve, toss the spaghetti with a little sauce to coat the noodles. Then plate the pasta and top it with the rest of the sauce.

Add the Eyeballs

Add the mozzarella balls to the spaghetti. Top with the sliced black olives facing up, and serve this spooky Halloween recipe to your guests with a pair of tongs or a pasta spoon.
