I've looked high and low for the best ceramic induction cookware. My choice? The GreenPan Valencia Ceramic Nonstick Cookware Set.

For your information: When you buy through links on Clan Kitchen, we may earn a commission.

My daily goal is to get healthy meals to the dinner table with easy-to-use and easy-to-clean pans. But I also want environmentally friendly pans that are free of toxic chemicals. Not all pans can pass that mark.

It’s even more challenging to find the right pan if you have an induction cooktop. Not all cookware is designed for induction cooktops. Plus, those that are induction-ready vary in their performance.

That’s why I like the GreenPan Valencia Ceramic Non-stick Induction Cooktop Cookware. It’s one of the best ceramic cookware sets in terms of durability and quality.

But it is on the pricier side, and there are affordable alternatives.

Product Reviews: Ceramic Induction Pans

GreenPan Valencia Ceramic Non-stick 11-Piece Set: Best Overall

The first set on our list is this GreenPan Valencia Pro Set. GreenPan was a pioneer in non-stick ceramic pans. They introduced their proprietary sand-based Thermolon coating back in 2007.

The Valencia cookware line features the same Thermolon coating, which is free of harmful chemicals or PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), the questionable main ingredient of Teflon.

Let’s take a look at some of GreenPan’s claims:

This 11-piece set includes the following:

  • 8′-inch (20.32 cm) frying pan
  • 9.5-inch (cm) frying pan
  • 11-inch (27.94 cm) frying pan
  • 2-quart (1.89 liters) and 3-quart (2.84 liters) covered saucepans
  • 3-quart (2.84 liters) skillet with lid
  • 5-quart (4.73 liters) casserole with lid

The heavy-duty hard-anodized aluminum body makes these pans extremely durable. These pans are oven safe for temperatures up to 600°F (316°C), and the shatter-resistant glass lids are safe for temps up to 425°F (218°C).

Several users had excellent results with this set, but they did use extra caution and care with the cookware.

For starters, do not use these pans on high heat. This cookware heats quickly, so low to medium heat will be sufficient.

Secondly, GreenPan recommends against using extra virgin olive oil or cooking sprays. These can damage the ceramic non-stick coating. Several customers recommended using ghee, or a specialty sauté oil.

I would suggest using some oil. You can even use extra virgin olive oil if you keep it on a low to medium heat, which you should do anyway.

Try to use as little oil as possible and clean with mild soap and a non-abrasive sponge. One nice thing is that the GreenPan Valencia set comes with liners, so you can safely store your cookware.

GreenPan Valencia Pro Hard Anodized Healthy Ceramic Nonstick 11 Piece Cookware Pots and Pans Set, PFAS-Free, Induction, Dishwasher Safe, Oven Safe, Gray

GreenPan advertises these ceramic non-stick pans as dishwasher safe, but there were several reports of damage from the dishwasher. I would hand wash these pans to avoid any damage.

If you must use the dishwasher, make sure the interior non-stick coating doesn’t touch anything else.

GreenPan’s solid reputation combined with this cookware’s performance does not come cheaply. Expect to pay quite a bit more for this cookware set than the others on our list.

Pros

  • Oven and broiler safe up to 600°F (316°C)
  • Induction cooktop ready
  • Hard-anodized aluminum core
  • Diamond-infused Thermolon coating
  • Safe for metal utensils
  • Dishwasher safe (best to hand wash)
  • PTFE-free

Cons

  • Significantly more expensive
  • Can’t use extra virgin olive oil or sprays

GreenLife Soft Grip 15-Piece Ceramic Non-stick Cookware Set: Best Overall Runner Up & Best Budget Pick

This GreenLife cookware set is the largest one of the ceramic induction cookware sets on our list. It comes in an attractive turquoise color and includes:

  • 7-inch (17.78 cm) and 9.5-inch (24.13 cm) frying pans
  • 1-quart (.95 liters) and 2-quart (1.89 liters) saucepans with lids
  • 5-quart (4.73 liters) stockpot with lid
  • 2.5-quart (2.37 liters) sauté pan with lid
  • 7-inch (17.78 cm) stainless steel steamer basket
  • 4 kitchen utensils
GreenLife Soft Grip Healthy Ceramic Nonstick, 15 Piece Cookware Pots and Pans Set, Induction, PFAS-Free, Dishwasher Safe, Turquoise

The soft grip Bakelite ergonomic handles are comfortable, but they are only oven-safe up to 350° F (177° C). Practically, these are best suited for stovetop use only.

The inner core consists of recycled aluminum, and the ceramic nonstick is non-toxic and releases food with ease.

GreenLife is unclear on whether this set contains PTFE, the active ingredient in Teflon. However, based on the product description, the fact it is PFAS-free and its similarities to the GreenPan brand, it’s reasonable to assume these pots and pans are Teflon and PTFE-free.

These pans are safe for oven temps up to 350°F (177°C), so you won’t be able to use them for much in the oven. But if you have an induction stove, no worries. These pans are safe for induction cooktops.

It’s best to avoid high temperatures when cooking with this GreenLife Soft Grip set. Low to medium is better. The good news? These pans are quick to heat, even at lower temperatures.

Also, be sure to use wooden or silicone utensils to help keep your pans free of scratches.

As far as cleaning? Customers loved how easy these pans are to clean. While GreenLife labels these pans as dishwasher safe, they do recommend washing them by hand. Be sure to use mild soap and a non-abrasive sponge.

Pros

  • Variety of bright color options
  • Soft grip ergonomic handles
  • Safe for induction cooktops
  • Dishwasher safe (handwashing recommended)
  • Affordable
  • Likely Teflon-free (but not 100% clear)

Cons

  • Not practical for the oven

Vremi 8-Piece Ceramic Cookware Set: Best for Stovetop to Table

This Vremi ceramic cookware set comes in a cheery yellow exterior with a white interior. There are blue and green options, as well. These pans are designed to go straight from the stovetop to the dinner table as serve ware.

This 8-piece set includes the following:

  • 2.85-quart (2.7 liters) Dutch oven with lid
  • 4.97-quart (4.7 liters) Dutch oven with lid
  • 3.9-quart (3.7 liters) Casserole with lid
  • 9.4-inch (24 cm) & 10.1-inch (25.6 cm) angled frying pans

This Vremic ceramic cookware set features a die-cast aluminum body with an enamel exterior and a non-stick ceramic coating on the interior.

It is unclear if these pans contain PTFE (i.e. Teflon). They are free of PFOA, lead, and cadmium, however. I suspect they do contain some Teflon derivative.

These pans have a comfortable, wood-look Bakelite handle, and the soft white lids have a small gap to release steam.

But be careful when handling the two-handle pieces. They have screws that are exposed on the underside of the handle. Several users complained of burning their fingers on the metal screws while cooking.

You can use this Vremi ceramic cookware on an induction cooktop.  The burner mustn’t exceed the diameter of the pan, as it could damage or discolor the cookware’s exterior or handles.

These pans are not safe for the oven. Many users tried it with varied success, but Vremi’s website clearly states this ceramic set is only safe for temperatures up to 300°F (149°C).

Since most people never use their ovens at that low of a temperature, this cookware is not practical for oven use.

Customers loved the non-stick quality of these pots and pans. They had success with eggs, rice, bacon, vegetables, and more.

Although Vremi says this cookware set is dishwasher safe, most happy customers washed their pans by hand. I would do the same to preserve the exterior.

Pros

  • Cute colors
  • Great ceramic non-stick quality
  • Angled skillet for easy flipping
  • Induction safe

Cons

  • Not oven safe
  • Likely contain PTFE (Teflon)
  • Lids are not see-through
  • Exposed handle screws can burn fingers

FRUITEAM 13-Piece Non-stick Ceramic Cookware Set: Best for Oven Dishes

This FRUITEAM ceramic nonstick cookware set comes in a beautiful copper-colored exterior and includes 13 pieces:

  • 8.7-inch (22.1 cm) & 11-inch (27.94) fry pans
  • 10-inch (25.4 cm) sauté pan with lid
  • 4.5-quart (4.26 liters) stew pot with lid
  • 2.8-quart (2.65 liters) sauce pot with lid
  • 1.5-quart (1.42 liters) milk pan with lid
FRUITEAM 13-Piece Cookware Set Non-stick Ceramic Coating Cooking Set, Induction Pots Pans Set with Lids, Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Handles, Induction, Oven, Gas, Stovetops Compatible for Family Meals

The ergonomic, stainless steel handles are dual-riveted, and the tempered glass lids allow you to monitor food while cooking.

This FRUITEAM ceramic set is induction-ready. And those stainless steel handles? They mean this set is oven safe for temperatures up to 450°F (232°C).

This is lightweight cookware, so it’s great for those who can’t lift heavy pans. However, some customers felt that the lightness indicated it was cheaply made. In fairness, most ceramic non-stick is lighter weight due to the aluminum construction.

One issue people had was with the stainless steel handles getting overly hot. Oven mitts are a necessity when handling these pots and pans.

When it comes to price? This induction-compatible cookware is very affordable.

Pros

  • Safe for induction cooktops
  • Oven safe up to 450°F (232°C)
  • Glass lids
  • PTFE-free (Teflon-free)
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Handles get very hot

Kenmore Arlington Nonstick Ceramic Coated Cookware Set: Best Budget Pick

  • 4.5-quart (4.26 liters) Dutch oven with lid
  • 3.5-quart (3.31 liters) sauté pan with lid
  • 8-inch (20.32 cm) & 9.5-inch (24.13 cm) fry pans
  • Wood Slotted Turner & Wood Slotted Spoon
Kenmore Arlington Nonstick Ceramic Coated Forged Aluminum Induction Cookware with Bakelite Handles, 12-Piece Set, Metallic Blue

The Kenmore Arlington cookware is suitable for induction stovetops. This set features soft-grip insulated handles and lids made of tempered glass, allowing you to monitor food closely.

The heavy-gauged aluminum body is great for quick and even heating, while the ceramic nonstick coating is free of PTFE (Teflon).

While Kenmore advertises this cookware as dishwasher-safe, they recommend hand washing to keep the ceramic nonstick coating in the best shape.

These pots and pans are technically oven-safe. But they can’t handle high temperatures, only going up to 350°F (177°C).

Customers liked the lightweight construction and the bright colors of the cookware. Many reviews complained it was easy to damage the nonstick surface, however.

Pros

  • Induction safe
  • Non-toxic & PTFE(Teflon)-free
  • Dishwasher safe (handwashing recommended)
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Only oven safe up to 350°F (177°C)
  • Coating is easy to chip

Ceramic Induction Cookware Buying Guide

Ceramic Induction Cookware

Why choose ceramic nonstick cookware?

Cookware materials like cast iron, copper, and stainless steel are great. But no matter how well you take care of them and season them, they are prone to sticking. For that reason, Teflon pans became a highly popular cookware choice for the average home cook.

The problem with Teflon, though, was it used to contain all kinds of nasty chemicals. They have since changed their formula, but many consumers still have health concerns about that type of cookware.

Ceramic cookware burst onto the scene over a decade ago as a healthy and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional Teflon non-stick cookware.

Just like other non-stick pans, however, the quality varies widely among ceramic cookware sets. The difference in quality mainly comes down to the materials used and the design of the ceramic pans.

What should I look for in a ceramic nonstick surface?

You want a ceramic coating that’s free of toxic (and questionable) chemicals. These chemicals include lead, cadmium, PFOA (Perfluorooctanoic acid), PFAs (poly- & perfluoroalkyl substances), and PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene).

PFOA has been banned in the manufacturing of cookware since 2014, so any new cookware is automatically PFOA-free.

Most ceramic cookware will label their products as “PFOA/PFAs/lead/cadmium free.” This can give you peace of mind when purchasing a set of cookware.

A note about PTFE

PTFE, the main ingredient in Teflon, is a little trickier. There is currently no research to suggest that using PTFE at normal temperatures is dangerous, but it can release toxic fumes at high heat (above 500°F/260°C). These fumes are deadly to birds and give humans flu-like symptoms.

Because there isn’t a lot of research about PTFE, many people wish to avoid it. The only problem? Some ceramic non-stick coatings still include PTFE. Furthermore, manufacturers aren’t always clear about whether their cookware contains PTFE.

If you want to be 100% certain that your ceramic cookware does not include PTFE, don’t just look for the label “non-toxic.” Be sure to choose only those products labeled as “PTFE-free.”

How to care for ceramic induction cookware

Ceramic non-stick induction cookware sets offer a lot of advantages, from their even heating and nonstick coating to their lightweight construction and easy cleaning.

But ceramic pans have a notoriously short lifespan. It’s important to properly care for your ceramic cookware to get as much use out of it as you can.

Cleaning

Some manufacturers will advertise their ceramic pans as dishwasher safe, but it’s better to hand wash ceramic non-stick cookware. The heat, detergents, and contact with other dishes can all damage the non-stick coating.

Be sure to use mild dish soap and a non-abrasive sponge, and let the pan cool completely before cleaning to avoid thermal shock.

Storing

In order to avoid damaging the ceramic coating, it’s best to use a storage rack or liners when storing ceramic induction cookware.

While cooking

To preserve the ceramic coating, avoid using cooking sprays. If you need cooking fat, a little butter or light olive oil is best.

Most ceramic coatings are scratch-resistant, but not scratch-proof. Avoid using metal cooking tools when cooking with ceramic cookware. Also, stick to low or medium heat. High heat can warp a pan, especially since most ceramic non-stick pieces have an aluminum body.

One other caution? Avoid shaking or scooting the pans across the cooktop’s surface, especially on a glass cooktop. While this won’t harm the cookware, it can scratch a stovetop burner. And speaking from experience, that’s something you want to avoid!

Is ceramic cookware induction compatible?

Some ceramic pans are suitable for induction cookers, while others are not. In order to work with an induction range, the ceramic cookware must have an induction plate or magnetic bottom.

Most manufacturers label their induction cookware sets as induction compatible, so you don’t have to do any guesswork.

What kinds of pans can you use on an induction cooktop?

Induction cooktops work by using an electromagnetic field to create heat. These cooktops don’t create heat directly like an electric stove. Instead, the pan interacts with the magnetic coils under the stove’s surface.

Induction cookers will only work with cookware that has a magnetic base. While some materials are naturally magnetic, like cast iron and some types of stainless steel, other metals are not.

Aluminum, the most common material for non-stick cookware, is not magnetic. For this reason, many manufacturers add a magnetic disc to the bottom of the cookware. All of the cookware on our list can work with induction cooktops.

Final Verdict: Best Ceramic Induction Cookware

If you want the best induction-ready non-stick ceramic cookware, I’d go with the GreenPan Valencia Pro Ceramic Nonstick Cookware Set. In terms of high-quality ceramic induction cookware sets, it’s one of the best out there.

It is quite expensive, though. If you need an option that’s easier on the budget, I’d go with the GreenLife Soft Grip Ceramic Induction Cooktop Set.
